One State Solution
One State Solution
The jury is in. To some, it seems the most sustainable solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict is a two-state solution. I think the opposite. While Israel has proven its ability to operate its own nation, the Palestinians have not. There is clearly no plurality or majority among Palestinians that can put the terrorist element under control, which is to say, extinguished. Without the terrorist, “river to sea” movement destroyed, there will never be peace between the river and the sea. Therefore, while a two-state solution would be ideal; it is clearly not possible. That leaves us really with a one-state solution. Israel in charge of a nation of mixed Jewish and Palestinian citizens with the Jewish government unapologetically in charge. After all, we are proving a one-state solution everyday in America.
How’s that?
Despite the long history of racism against blacks in America, our country has demonstrated its ability to change and bestow fairness and equality as promised by our constitution (albeit, FAR too slowly). The pace of change is likely determined by the pace at which minds change, with that collective evolution of thought percolating into the country’s leadership and rule of law. America is the strongest nation in the world due in part, to its ability to assimilate many different cultures over time.
This is what the Israeli’s and Palestinians must do. Blend. After all, they’re very close tribe mates from long ago anyway. If they’d look in the mirror, they would see how easy it could be.
What is standing in the way? Religion and the human weaknesses of pride and power.
